Level 1 vs Level 2 charging
A Level 1 charger uses a standard 120V outlet and adds roughly 3–5 miles of range per hour. A Level 2 charger on a 240V circuit adds 25–45 miles per hour, meaning a full charge overnight. For almost every Alabama driver, Level 2 EV charger installation is the right call.
Hardwired charger or NEMA 14-50 outlet?
A NEMA 14-50 outlet is flexible and lets you use a mobile connector. A hardwired unit like the Tesla Wall Connector supports the full 48 amp rate, looks cleaner and is required for some outdoor installs. We install both.
Will my panel handle it?
A 40 amp charger needs a 50 amp breaker; a 48 amp charger needs 60. Homes with 100 amp service, electric heat or a hot tub often need an electrical panel upgrade or a load-management device first. We run a load calculation on every job.
What EV charger installation costs in Alabama
Typical installs run $650–$1,500 for a charger near the panel, more for long runs, trenching to a detached garage or a panel upgrade. Many Alabama utilities offer rebates for Level 2 chargers; ask us.
