How many recessed lights do I need?

Divide the ceiling height by two for spacing between lights. An 8 ft ceiling means lights about 4 ft apart. A 12×14 kitchen typically needs 6–8 slim LEDs. Our recessed lighting installers draw the layout for you.

Color temperature

2700K is warm and cozy for living rooms and bedrooms; 3000K is the sweet spot for kitchens; 4000K suits garages and workshops. Many slim LEDs are selectable at install.

Dimmers and smart control

Pair recessed lights with an LED-rated dimmer or smart switch to avoid flicker and set scenes.

Retrofit vs new construction

Slim wafer LEDs install in existing ceilings with a 4 inch hole and no attic access needed. Perfect for Alabama homes with finished ceilings.

Pair with other lighting

Layer recessed lighting with pendants and under-cabinet lights and finish the exterior with outdoor lighting. Call (888) 592-6466 for a lighting quote.
